Frequently Asked Questions For HL Tutoring Services

Below are some frequently asked questions.  You may prefer to read through this FAQ page before contacting HL Tutoring Services.  Please see below.  Thank you!

How can I get in touch?

You can contact HL Tutoring Services using the contact form on the website or give me a ring. +44 07950598030I will return your call later if I don’t answer straight away. (I may be teaching). You can also email. I prefer a text message rather than a Whatsapp message. I generally don’t use Whatsapp unless there are issues with an online video lesson (or I have specified that using Whatsapp is OK).

Are you an experienced tutor?

Don’t worry. You are in safe hands! I have been teaching as a fully qualified teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) since 1998 and have tutored students on and off throughout my teaching career. I still work in schools so I’m able to keep up-to-date in the rapidly changing educational world. Students will benefit as I can complement what is happening in school/college. I have created plenty of high quality teaching resources too. Students have gone on to gain entry into top local schools, aced their SATs, passed exams, reached their end of year and key stage targets or most importantly gained enough confidence to believe in their own ability.

Which subjects do you teach?

I teach primary English, primary maths, primary music and beginner/intermediate level violin. I also teach Key Stage Three education and English as a Foreign Language for adults. Other subjects and levels can be taught.  Please get in touch with your requirements.

Do you prepare students for exams?

Yes, I do.  Please get in touch, naming the subject and level you require.

How would you explain HL Tutoring Services’ teaching style?

I am a positive teacher; I like to give lots of praise and encouragement. Confidence building is the main aim. The best way to find out more about my teaching style is to read fantastic reviews from others or to watch sample lessons.

How much do you charge?

Generally speaking, lesson prices vary depending on the length of each lesson, how many lessons are booked in one go and how much commitment you have. For instance, a single hour lesson will be much more expensive than (how much a single lesson would cost as part of) a block of four hourly lessons. The average hourly lesson price is £30 if booked as part of a block. If you are willing to commit to a set of dates then the price (per lesson) is much more economical in the long run. Group lessons are much cheaper.

Can I pay by cash or bank transfer?

You can pay for lessons using whichever payment option you wish. This includes cash (if you are local to Leeds) or a bank transfer. Other options include PayPal.

Do you offer trial lessons?

Trial lessons are not offered. Why not book a free introduction?! This is not a trial lesson but does give the opportunity to discuss your tutoring requirements. Alternatively, visit the blog to get a flavour of my approach and teaching style.

Do you allow reschedules?

Most one to one lessons can be rescheduled on occasion. You are kindly required to do so at least 24 hours before the lesson. If it is less than 24 hours in advance then you still may be charged. This is so that the slot can be offered to another student. If there starts to be a pattern then the student should choose a more flexible booking option or perhaps book a single lesson at a time.

Can I share your contact details with other students or families?

Absolutely, please do! As an independent tutor, the best way I get students is through word of mouth.  I really appreciate it when past or current students pass on my credentials to others who are looking for tuition. If wasn’t for this method, I wouldn’t be able to keep going. Thank you in advance!
